Bulk upload allows a user to mass import product data or product media into Surefront. Bulk Product Upload
To upload products in bulk you can use the Bulk Upload feature. At the top of the Catalog page select Upload to begin:
1. Here is a quick overview of the Bulk Upload Utility:
In the first section, choose whether you are wanting to upload the Product Data or the Media associated with existing products:
At the bottom of the page we have a quick overview of how the data needs to be organized for a successful upload. Be sure to have your first row labeled with unique column names so our system will be able to successfully map your item's information correctly.
*Quick Note, only the Item# field is required and the only field that also needs to be unique. Meaning you can load a spreadsheet and only upload the fields you want in the system in the following screen.
2. Once the data is configured properly upload a single file by Dragging and Dropping or by Browsing for that file.
Spreadsheets can be in .csv, .xls, .xlsm, or .xlsx format. Only the first sheet will be used for the upload.
We recommend uploading into a Category specifically for uploads like this:
Or segmenting your data into several uploads specific to individual Categories and using a tag to be able to quickly identify the newly uploaded data.
Once the Category and Tags have been indicated and the file uploaded to the utility we are ready to select Get Started
3. After selecting the Get Started Button you will be redirected to this page while your data is loading in the background:
This window gives a quick overview/reminder for how to map the columns for the import. Select the Get Started button to start mapping your columns for the import.
To map a column of data select the Add Mapping button and a side window will appear on the right hand side of the screen with possible matches to existing fields. If there are no matches or if its a new field you can create a new field during the import:
At the bottom of the screen you can see how many products are new vs existing products based on the Item#
If you are uploading to bulk update products, another window will appear showing the old value vs the new value. Be sure to double check to ensure you aren’t accidentally overriding important values! (Previous values can be checked in the Events tab of the individual product). If bulk updating using the feature we also recommend creating a Catalog backup just in case data needs to be reverted to the previous values. You can accomplish this by going to Catalog Management here:
4. Once all your columns that you are wanting to upload have been mapped select the Upload Mapped:
Now you should be able to go to the Catalog and see all your new products!
For Media Upload:
With this tool we can create new products or upload to existing products.
Two major differences between the Media upload and the Product Data upload main page are:
You can choose to create new products or upload to existing
By selecting Upload to an existing product the system will automatically match the file name of the media to the value passed in the Bulk Product Upload for the Image File Names
By selecting Upload and Create a New Product you can use the image to create a new product using the file name as the Item#
The Drag & Drop Media or Browse supports multiple uploads of a wider variety of file types
After the File Names have been mapped using the Bulk Product Upload (process for that can be found here), we are ready to upload the associated Media.
The acceptable Media types are:
Static Images - .jpg, .jpeg, .png
Raster Images - .gif, .tif, .tiff
PDFs
PowerPoint - .ppt, .pptm, pptx
3D Models - .glb, .gltf
Adobe Illustrator - .ai
Adobe Photoshop - .psd
After you have indicated all the files you are uploading (the full number of files will be indicated next to the Get Started button) select Get Started and your files will be uploaded.
